How does my merchant use the information that I share from my linked financial account?

Linking your financial account through Stripe's authentication flow allows your financial institution to share information with Stripe, and in turn for Stripe to share permitted information with your merchant. Merchants must clearly disclose the purpose behind collecting your financial account information.

We only give your merchant access to the types of financial information that they've specifically requested, and only if you have consented to share that financial information with them through the authentication flow. If your merchant would like to access additional types of information from your account in future, they will need to obtain your permission. You can also choose to revoke previously granted access and unlink from the merchant.

If you are concerned that your merchant is using your information for a purpose that you did not permit, please file a complaint directly with Stripe so that we can investigate. When filing a complaint, please select "Financial connections" from the drop-down on the form.
