# How does 1099 e-delivery work in Stripe embedded components?

## E-delivery consent
Connected accounts must explicitly consent to e-delivery to see their 1099 tax form in the [documents component](https://docs.stripe.com/connect/supported-embedded-components/documents). Without consent, they receive only a physical 1099 tax form by postal mail and no digital copy appears in the Documents component. Connected accounts receiving postal mail only do not receive any email notifications about their 1099 tax form.
## Stripe communications
You can’t disable Stripe 1099 communications when delivering your 1099 forms via embedded components. These include a [pre-filing confirmation email](https://docs.stripe.com/connect/platform-embedded-taxes-walkthrough#pre-filing-receive-email) and a [1099 e-delivery email](https://docs.stripe.com/connect/platform-embedded-taxes-walkthrough#e-delivery-receive-email). For complete control over the communications and e-delivery, [learn about delivering forms via the Tax Forms API](https://docs.stripe.com/connect/deliver-tax-forms#edelivery-api) instead of using embedded components.
## Setting delivery preferences
Connected accounts set their delivery preferences in the [account management component](https://docs.stripe.com/connect/supported-embedded-components/account-management) before the platform files. Once a platform files, connected accounts can no longer change their delivery preferences.
## Optional postal delivery
If a platform enables optional postal delivery in their [tax form settings](https://dashboard.stripe.com/settings/connect/tax-reporting/1099-forms) and a connected account has not yet consented to e-delivery by the time of filing, a physical 1099 tax form will be delivered by postal mail and an e-delivery notification email will be sent. The connected account can use the link in the email to provide consent and immediately access their digital form in the documents component.
## What connected accounts see in the documents component
Connected accounts who consent to e-delivery can see all filed forms from the platform for the tax year in the documents component. Forms are retained indefinitely for connected accounts. Only forms that were originally delivered via e-delivery appear in the component. Forms previously delivered by postal mail do not appear.
## Corrected forms**
The documents component shows only the final corrected form. The previous version is removed and there is no indication in the list view that the form has been corrected. When a connected account downloads the form, the downloaded PDF has the Corrected box checked.
The intermediary zeroed-out form does not appear in the documents component. Because of how the two-step correction process works, the final resulting form also does not have the "Corrected" box checked on the downloaded PDF. Platforms can download and send PDF versions of the form with the “Corrected” box to their connected accounts if needed.
Connected accounts who consented to e-delivery receive a notification when an updated or corrected form is available. Corrected forms take additional time to appear after the IRS accepts the correction.
## E-delivered forms
When delivering electronically, forms appear in the documents component as soon as the platform files them and before IRS acceptance.
For connected accounts who no longer have access to the platform, the recommended approach is to deliver their forms via postal mail.
The documents component displays only finalized forms, and filing for the current tax year becomes available the January of the following year.
