# How 1099 forms appear in the embedded Documents component

## Form retention
Stripe does not delete tax forms. Forms remain available in the embedded component indefinitely, as long as the connected account exists.
## How corrected forms appear
When a platform files a correction, the embedded component replaces the original form with the final corrected version. The original form is no longer visible. There is no indication in the component list view that a form has been corrected. When a connected account downloads the form, the corrected box is checked on the downloaded document.
When a correction requires an intermediary zeroed-out form before the final corrected form is generated, the zeroed-out form doesn't appear in the embedded component at any point. The final form that appears also doesn't have the corrected box checked, because of how the two-step correction process works.
## When forms become visible
Forms appear in the embedded component as soon as they're filed, before IRS acceptance.
## Historical forms
Only forms that were e-delivered appear in the embedded component. Forms from prior tax years that were delivered exclusively by postal mail do not appear in the component, regardless of when the platform integrated with embedded components.
## Testing end-to-end form delivery
The embedded component only displays final, filed forms. The **File** button is disabled outside of filing season, so generating and filing forms for testing isn't possible before filing opens.
If your platform has prior-year e-delivered forms, those can be used for realistic testing before the current filing season opens. If no prior e-delivered forms exist, end-to-end testing must wait until filing season opens.
