### What is a recipient?
A recipient is an individual or business to whom money is being sent using Stripe's Global Payouts feature. As a recipient, you don’t need to have a Stripe account. You will receive an email from Stripe notifying you that a Stripe merchant is sending you money. This email will contain instructions on how to provide or confirm your bank account details to receive the funds.
### What do I need to do if I receive money?
If you receive money through Global Payouts, you'll typically receive an email notification. Follow the instructions in the email to provide or confirm your bank account details. Once your information is verified, the funds will be transferred to your bank account.
If you don't recognize the transfer or have any doubts about its legitimacy, reach out to the sender.
### Why did my payout fail? Can I try again?
Payouts can fail for several reasons:
* The recipient didn't respond in time. When recipients are paid via email, also known as a ”Payout Link”, they have 3 days to accept the money and enter their details.
* The recipient bank returned the payout. Common reasons include:
  * The payout method (bank account) doesn't exist.
  * The account is closed.
  * The account number is invalid.
If a payout fails, you can see the return reason in the [**Payout details**](https://dashboard.stripe.com/payouts) tab of the Dashboard.
To resolve the issue:
* Double-check the recipient's payout information for accuracy.
* Consider sending a new payout via email to allow the recipient to re-enter their details.
* Once the information is confirmed or updated, you can trigger another payout.
* In most cases, you can try the payout again after addressing the issue that caused the initial failure.
### What should I do if the recipient claims that they haven’t received their payout?
If a recipient says they haven't received their payout, follow these steps:
1. Check the payout status in your Stripe Dashboard.
* Open the specific payout in question.
* Check its status.
1. If the status is **Posted**, the payout should have been successful. Collect the following information from your Dashboard:
* Trace ID.
* Amount.
* Date when the payment was initiated.
* Recipient's bank name.
* Last four digits of the recipient's account number.
1. Share this information with the recipient and ask them to:
* Contact their bank.
* Provide the bank with the details you've shared.
* Request that the bank investigate the transfer.
1. If the recipient's bank can't locate the funds, ask them to obtain a written statement from their bank confirming this.
1. Contact Stripe Support:
* Provide the written statement from the recipient's bank.
* Include all relevant details about the global payout.
* Stripe Support will then investigate further and assist in resolving the issue.
The expected arrival time may differ [depending on the payment method and country](https://docs.stripe.com/global-payouts/send-money#payout-methods). Banks may sometimes hold funds for a short period before making them available, even after the payout shows as **Posted** in your Stripe Dashboard. If the issue persists, encourage the recipient to work with their bank first, as the bank has the most direct access to information about incoming transfers.
### I received a payout from Stripe that I don’t recognize.
If you've received a payout you don't recognize, contact the sender for more information. You can find the sender's details in the notification email you received about the payout.
### Can a payout be reversed?
If the payout posts, you can still request a reversal by contacting Stripe Support if your payout method supports it. Stripe makes an attempt to reverse the payout and return the funds to your account. Stripe can’t guarantee a reversal, and some payout methods aren’t reversible.
* US domestic payouts (local bank transfer): You must request a reversal within 24 hours of creating the payout.
* US domestic payouts (wire): You must request a reversal within 24 hours of creating the payout.
* UK domestic payouts (local bank transfer): Payout reversals aren’t supported.
* Cross-border payouts: Payout reversals aren’t supported.
### How do I add a new recipient?
You can add a new recipient through the Stripe Dashboard or API. Here's how to do it through the Dashboard:
* Navigate to the [**Balances**](https://dashboard.stripe.com/balance/overview) page in your Stripe Dashboard.
* Click the **Sending** tab.
* Enter the email address of the new recipient.
* Decide how you want to collect the recipient's details:
  * Option 1: Submit the details for your recipient yourself
  * Option 2: Allow the recipient to fill out their own details
If you choose Option 2, Stripe will send an email to the recipient with instructions on how to provide their information securely.
When adding a recipient, you'll typically need to provide or collect information such as their name, address, and bank account details. The exact information required depends on the recipient's location and the type of payout you're making.
### Is there any limit on the amount I can transfer to a recipient?
Yes, the limit varies vary based on your location and the payout method. Read more on [payout amounts](https://docs.stripe.com/global-payouts/send-money#payout-amounts).
### Why is a Global Payout stuck in pending?
A payout may be pending for various reasons, including additional verification requirements or processing delays. Find more specific information about the payout status in the Dashboard.
### Can I set up recurring global payouts?
