# Funding your financial account

You can add funds to your financial account by transferring from your payments balance or from an external bank account. Transfers from your payments balance are instant, while external funding times vary. ## How do I add funds to my financial account, and how long does it take?
Add funds to your financial account in one of three ways:
### Transfer from your payments balance
This method is instant and free.
1. Navigate to the **Balances** page in your Stripe Dashboard.
1. Click **Transfer** > **Transfer and convert funds**.
1. Select **Payments Balance** as source and select the **financial account** to add money to.
1. Enter the amount, review, and confirm.
### External funding - credit transfer (push)
Timing varies from instant to 7 days, depending on your risk profile and transfer method.
1. In your Dashboard, click **Add Funds** > **External Bank transfer**.
1. Use the provided Stripe bank details to transfer funds from your bank.
### External funding - debit transfer (pull - US only)
This method typically takes 5 days.
1. In your Dashboard, click **Add Funds** > **Stripe Initiated Debit**.
1. Select amount, bank account to debit, and the **financial account** to add money to.
1. Confirm the transfer.
## I added funds to my financial account but don't see them. Where did that money go?
If you've added funds to your financial account and they're not showing up:
* Verify your funding method: payments balance funding, debit, or credit transfer.
### For funding from your payments balance
* Ensure you have enough funds in your payments balance.
* If you have enough funds in your balance, take a screenshot of your balance or error message and contact Stripe Support.
### For credit transfers
* If you initiated the transfer recently, wait a few days as processing times can vary.
* Double-check that the bank details are correct.
* Contact your bank about the status of the transfer.
* If your bank confirms the transfer was successful, contact Stripe Support with proof of transfer.
### For debits
* If you initiated the transfer recently, wait a few days as processing times can vary.
* Contact your bank about the status of the debit.
* If your bank confirms the transfer was successful, contact Stripe Support with proof of debit.
## How can I set up recurring funding to my financial account?
To set up recurring funding, use the **revenue splitting** feature in your Stripe Dashboard:
1. Go to **Settings** in your Stripe Dashboard.
1. Navigate to **Bank accounts and currencies**.
1. Select **Set up recurring transfers**.
From here, you can configure recurring transfers from your payments balance to your financial account.
To use this feature, you need to be on an automatic payout schedule. Then select from the following:
* Transfer a target amount
* Transfer all of your payments balance
* Don't transfer any of your payments balance

## My financial account balance is negative. What can I do?
Add funds to your financial account immediately to cover the negative balance. Adding funds promptly helps prevent service interruptions.
Use one of the methods mentioned above:
* Transfer from your payments balance
* External funding - credit transfer (push)
* External funding - debit transfer (pull - US only)
