## How often does the fee report update?
The report shows fee data 96 hours after a fee has settled from one of your balances.
## How much of my account's past fee data can I access?
You can review data from as early as January 2022, however data prior to January 2024 may be incomplete. We recommend searching for data from January 2024 onwards.
## Does the report cover all fees?
The report includes fees that impact the account's Stripe balance, credits balance, and financial accounts, with some exceptions:
* **Included in the report**: PayPal passthrough fees deducted from the PayPal account.
  * If you [settle PayPal payments to PayPal](https://docs.stripe.com/payments/paypal/choose-settlement-preference#money-flow-and-payouts), the passthrough fee is deducted from your PayPal account.
* **Excluded from the report**: Terminal device purchases, Stripe Capital fees, Atlas fees, and post-paid invoiced fees.
## Can I report on fees across currencies?
Yes, the Fees report shows fees in multiple currencies. Fees are reported in their settlement currency. You can switch between currencies using the currency filter.
## How do I use the date filter?
**"Incurred at" filter**
Use the "incurred at" filter to show fee data based on the date of the originating activity that incurred the fee.
Example: To show a fee assessed on February 1st for a charge created on January 31st, run the report for January.
**"Balance transaction date" filter**
Use the "balance transaction date" filter to show fee data based on the date of the fee assessment, not the originating activity.
Example: To show a fee assessed on February 1st for a charge created on January 31st, filter by balance transaction date and run the report for February.
## How can I view descriptions of fees in the fees report?
To view a description for each fee, turn on **Show descriptions** in the report.
## Why do I see negative fee items?
Fee line items with a negative value are amounts that are “credited” to the user's balance. This can happen when the user gets a fee refunded.
## Why am I seeing a row with only the tax amount?
Stripe users based in certain countries and areas may have taxes on Stripe fees. If the total taxed amount for a Stripe fee is less than 1 cent, the amount less than 1 cent is subtracted.
Example: If the total taxed amount is 0.0135, Stripe subtracts 0.0035 to round it down to 1 cent.
## What are round offs and how do I attribute them?
Stripe rounds the Stripe fee to the nearest unit, such as pence. Example: If the fee is 0.025, Stripe rounds up to 0.03. If the fee is 0.024, Stripe rounds down to 0.02.
For gross settled or async fees, round offs are applied to the invoice amount rather than a single transaction. Therefore, a round off can't be attributed to a single transaction, and in these cases `incurred_by` is set to `balance_transaction_id` which is linked to the invoice.
## Can there be multiple fees on a single payment?
When your account creates multiple failed charges for a single payment, Stripe attributes verification fees (such as 3DS or per-auth fees) for all the failed charges to the related payment.
## Why are some fees attributed to Payment Intent IDs instead of Charge IDs?
This happens when fees (such as 3DS or per-authorization fees) are associated with failed charges.
Because failed charge IDs are not exposed in the Stripe API, the report surfaces the Payment Intent ID (`pi_`) so you can still query and reconcile these fees. To understand the full cost of a transaction, you may need to aggregate fees across both the Payment Intent ID and any successful Charge IDs (`ch_`) associated with it.
## Can I view fees by transaction?
Yes, download the report and select the option to export an itemized view of the fee dataset. This view displays granular fee reporting, broken out by fee type and linked back to the transaction that incurred the fee.
## Can I exclude the PayPal passthrough fee from the report?
No, the PayPal fee you see covers two charges: Stripe's processing fee (deducted from your Stripe account balance) and PayPal's passthrough fees (charged to your PayPal account or Stripe balance, depending on your [PayPal funds settings](https://docs.stripe.com/payments/paypal/choose-settlement-preference#money-flow-and-payouts)).
For a detailed breakdown of PayPal passthrough fees, log in to PayPal and review your [PayPal Settlement Report](https://docs.stripe.com/payments/paypal/payout-reconciliation#access-your-paypal-reports).
## Do Stripe fees change after they're created? How long after they're created can they change?
If you're on the IC+ pricing model, month-end fees are subject to revisions. We may adjust network costs for up to two months after the transaction occurs. Example: You can expect to see revisions for May transactions until the July 1st billing, with final amounts available by July 3rd.
Adjustments may occur to previously deducted fees as Stripe receives additional data from financial partners regarding transactions. These monthly fee adjustments ensure that we're charging accurate billing, so fees for a given period may be updated in the following months.
Learn more about the [Interchange Plus (IC+) pricing model](https://docs.stripe.com/reports/fees-reporting#ic-plus-model).
## How can I use this itemized dataset?
* To see the fees associated with a particular charge ID or payout, filter or group by the `incurred_by` column. It will show an itemized list of fees incurred by a given transaction.
* To see the breakdown of fees relating to a particular settlement transaction or money movement, filter or group by `balance_transaction_id` or `fee_transaction_id`.
  * If a fee credit or financial account was used to cover all or part of the fee amount, you'll see a `fee_transaction_id`. If the fee was entirely settled by your primary balance, you'll see a `balance_transaction_id`.
* To see the breakdown of fees relating to a particular product, filter by the `feature_name` column.
## How can I reconcile this report with other Stripe reports?
Reconciliation is subjective and depends on your Stripe account’s configuration. The [Fee Report documentation](https://docs.stripe.com/reports/all-fees#available-columns) lists the report’s columns and definitions, which you can use to reconcile against other reports.
**Balance summary report**
You can reconcile the Fees report with the Balance summary report. When reconciling, ensure that each report is generated using the same filters:
* Both reports must be downloaded for the **same date range** and **time zone**.
* Both reports must have identical **account filters** (Example: connected account or all connected accounts).
* For the Fee report, select the **“Balance transaction date” filter**.
  * The Balance summary report reflects data based on the creation date of the balance transactions.
If you're looking at the report in itemized format, you can use the Balance transaction ID to match the two reports.
**Reconcile fees processed with Stripe Credits with the Balance summary report**
The Fees report includes fees processed through the Stripe account balance and [Fee Credits](https://docs.stripe.com/stripe-fee-credits). However, the Balance summary report only captures fees that were paid from the Stripe account balance.
Since fees deducted from Stripe Fee Credits don't impact the Stripe account balance, the “Less fees” value in the “balance change activity” section won't align with the total fees in the [Fees report](https://docs.stripe.com/reports/all-fees).
To reconcile the differences, download the [Credit Activity report](https://docs.stripe.com/stripe-fee-credits#available-reports) for the specific date and calculate the total amount. The reconciliation can be done using the following formula: `Balance Change for Activity Summary “Less Fee” Amount + Fee Credit Amount = Fees Report Amount`
**Fee Credits**
You can reconcile the Fees report with the Credit activity report with this strategy:
Use the Balance transaction ID to match with the [Balance summary report](https://docs.stripe.com/reports/balance) and Fee Transaction ID to match with the [Credit activity report](https://docs.stripe.com/stripe-fee-credits#available-reports). The total fees on the Fees report are an aggregation of fees in the Balance summary report and Credit activity report.
**Treasury**
Not reconcilable, [Treasury for platforms](https://docs.stripe.com/treasury) reports aren't supported.
## How is the itemized_fees dataset on Stripe Sigma and Data Pipeline different from itemized fees exported on the Dashboard?
The itemized fees exported from the Dashboard may have different available columns from the `itemized_fees` dataset on Stripe Sigma and Data Pipeline.
Some columns (`fee_description`, `feature_name`, `product`, `area`) are only available in the Dashboard. Future support for these columns is planned for Stripe Sigma and Data Pipeline.
