Dissolving your company

Even if you are not operating your company anymore, you may still be obligated to file taxes every year until it’s dissolved. A final tax filing may also be required for the year in which your company dissolves. It’s a good idea to work with an accountant to confirm your tax obligations.

  1. Choose a service to help you dissolve your company. Atlas partners with three solutions, but you can use any service you'd like:
    • Elevate, an online legal services firm, connects Stripe Atlas users with lawyers who can help with company dissolutions. $549 dissolution plus guidance on how to pay any outstanding taxes owed.
    • Legalinc, the registered agent for Atlas companies, offers $99 dissolution plus guidance on how to pay any outstanding taxes owed.
    • SimpleClosure, a venture backed startup, helps companies shut down in just days or weeks by combining technology, automation, and an experienced team of lawyers and accountants. Atlas founders get 10% off.
  2. Download your formation documents from the company section of your Stripe dashboard.
  3. Contact your bank to close your bank account.
  4. Close your Stripe account. When you close your Stripe account we cancel your registered agent subscription on your behalf so you are not charged upon renewal.
    1. You can also cancel your registered agent subscription from the Dashboard without closing your account.
    2. If you dissolved your company via Legalinc, Atlas will automatically cancel your registered agent subscription once the dissolution is complete.
