Different Lebanese Pound (LBP) FX rate on Stripe

In January 2022, the Lebanese Central Bank (Banque Du Liban) amended the exchange rate for the Lebanese Pound (LBP) against the US Dollar (USD). This new “Sayrafa” rate applies to all international card payments, including in-person and online transactions.

If your business accepts payments in LBP, the rate used to convert your funds to your local currency will be the official Sayrafa rate required by the Lebanese Central Bank. You may notice that this rate differs from rates published on public exchange comparison sites, but it is a requirement of international payments in Lebanon.

This change only applies to payments in LBP. You can use the currency conversion tools provided by Visa and Mastercard to learn more about the expected converted value of a payment.
