# Change your Managed Payments auto-enablement setting

If you've joined Stripe after 10 July 2026, and you enabled Managed Payments during onboarding, you can manage auto-enablement from **Dashboard > Settings > Managed Payments**.
Auto-enablement determines whether Managed Payments is selected by default for eligible new Checkout Sessions and Payment Links. It applies only to the account environment you are currently viewing, such as live mode or sandbox.
### Turn off auto-enablement
You can turn auto-enablement off at any time. Select **Turn off**, complete the short survey, and confirm your choice. Managed Payments will no longer be selected by default for new Checkout Sessions and Payment Links in that environment.
### Turn on auto-enablement
You can turn auto-enablement on in your sandbox from the Managed Payments settings page.
In live mode, the **Turn on** option may not be available if you have already integrated with relevant Stripe APIs. This protection helps avoid changes that could affect existing API requests. If you need help turning auto-enablement on in live mode, contact Stripe Support.
### If you cannot find the setting
The setting appears after you complete the setup shown on the Managed Payments settings page. Complete any outstanding setup first. If the setting is still unavailable, contact Stripe Support.
### Using API parameters
Your integration can set Managed Payments on or off for an individual request. An explicit API setting takes precedence over the account auto-enablement setting.
Changing auto-enablement affects future eligible Checkout Sessions and Payment Links. It does not change existing transactions.
