# BBPOS WisePOS E

This article covers the key features of the BBPOS WisePOS E smart reader and walks you through setting up the battery, charging, and network connectivity.
## Reader details
The BBPOS WisePOS E is a smart reader ideal for hybrid countertop and handheld use.
It has a 5" touchscreen, battery and plug-in operation, and Wi-Fi or optional Ethernet connectivity. It runs on an Android-based operating system that supports updates for fleet management and additional use cases.
For full details, see the [WisePOS E reader documentation](https://docs.stripe.com/terminal/readers/bbpos-wisepos-e). For country availability, see [Regional considerations](https://stripe.com/docs/terminal/payments/regional).
## Set up your reader
### Install the battery
The battery may arrive pre-installed or separately in the box.
Follow these instructions if you need to install or reseat the battery.
1. With the back of the device facing you, lift up from the indentation at the bottom left corner to detach the back cover.
   - It can take a significant amount of force to open the battery door.
1. Insert the battery by sliding it into the exposed slot with the gold connectors at the top aligned.
1. Replace the back cover.
If the battery isn't installed correctly, the screen flickers when charging and the reader won't function.
### Charge the reader
Always charge the WisePOS E using a wall outlet or the optional Ethernet dock. Don't use a laptop port for charging. For more information, see the [WisePOS E setup documentation](https://stripe.com/docs/terminal/payments/setup-reader/bbpos-wisepos-e#power).
### Connect to your network
The WisePOS E connects to your web-based or mobile point-of-sale application over Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
Ethernet connectivity requires the optional dock, which also keeps the reader charged using the included charging cable. Purchase the dock separately from the **Terminal** tab of your [Dashboard](https://dashboard.stripe.com/terminal/shop).
### Ethernet dock
The Ethernet dock features a 10/100 Ethernet port and rubber feet for stable countertop use. It docks and undocks using the pins on the back of the reader. The included charging cable plugs into any USB-A power adapter with a minimum power requirement of 5V-2A (10W).
