# Add a bank account for payouts in Japan

Stripe requires a domestic bank account for payouts — no SWIFT code needed.
To add your Japanese yen (JPY) bank account, you need:
* Account number
* Branch number
* Branch name
* Account holder name (in katakana or romaji)
The default account type is futsu (普通). To switch to a toza (当座) account, [contact support](http://support.stripe.com/contact).
## Account requirements
* **Corporations**: Add your corporate designation (such as `カ`) before your company name in katakana.
* **Account number length**: Bank account numbers must be 7 digits. If yours is shorter, add leading zeros. For example, `123456` becomes `0123456`.
* **Name matching**: Register your bank account under your business's legal name. Sole proprietors should use the account representative's name on record. A name mismatch may block your payouts.
