# Why can't I change the country where my account is operating? 

Once a Stripe Express account is created, the country can't be changed. If you selected the wrong country during setup, or have since moved, you'll need to close your current account and create a new one.
## Create a new account with the correct country
Only your platform can close your Stripe Express account. Before you begin, check that your [country is supported by Stripe](https://stripe.com/global).
1. Contact your platform's support team.
1. Ask them to close your current Stripe Express account.
   - If your account has a pending balance, it must be cleared before the account can be closed.
1. Ask them to create a new account in the correct country.
