What does it mean when my payouts are paused or my payments are blocked?

When your payouts are paused, you will not be able to transfer funds to your bank account, debit card or any other external source. When your payments are blocked, it means you cannot receive payments through a platform that you work with.

What is a payout?

In order for you to receive funds, your platform makes "payouts" to transfer funds from your Stripe account to your bank account or debit card through Stripe.

Paused payout

Payouts may be paused if we are missing required information about your tax status or if you have other outstanding requirements due for your account. Your account may continue to receive payments while payouts are paused, but you will not be able to transfer the funds to your bank account, debit card or any other external source. If you have successfully submitted a W-8/W9 tax form through Stripe Express and there are no other outstanding requirements, your payouts should be restarted within two working days.

Blocked payment

When your payments are blocked, it means that you cannot receive payments through a platform that you work with. Payments may be blocked if we are still missing required information about your tax status or you have other outstanding requirements due for your account after pausing your payouts. If you have successfully submitted a W-8/W-9 tax form through Stripe Express and there are no other outstanding requirements, your payments should be unblocked within two working days.
