# My US tax ID number (TIN) isn't verifying

If your TIN isn't verifying, it's likely because the IRS hasn't updated their database yet. This is common if your US business name was updated with the IRS within the last 3 months, or if you're registering a new business for the first time. The IRS typically takes **3–4 weeks** to process updates.
If Stripe is unable to verify your TIN with IRS records, you'll see a banner in the [Dashboard](https://connect.stripe.com/express_login) asking you to **Update your business information**.
## TIN issued within the last 3 months
If your legal name and tax ID match the details on your SS-4 confirmation letter, you can upload a copy to get verified. Stripe can only verify TINs against IRS records.
1. Click the **Update your business information** banner in the [Dashboard](https://connect.stripe.com/express_login).
1. Click **Edit business details**.
1. Click **Start Verification** and select **IRS SS-4 confirmation letter** from the dropdown.
1. Click **Continue** and upload the correct document.
## Multiple platforms
If your account is connected to multiple platforms, the platform where additional verification is needed will show a red badge that says **Information needed** during the login process.
